How to Trim a Video Online

Why Trim Before You Download
Often you only want a few seconds of a video: a punchline, a goal, a line of dialogue, a sound for a status update. Downloading the whole file and cutting it in an editing app takes time and space. Here you pick the part first and save only that.
The cut happens on our server with ffmpeg, the same tool video editors use, and the clip streams to you as soon as it is ready. Nothing to install, and it works in any browser on a phone or a computer.
Fast Cuts Without Quality Loss
The clip is cut without re-encoding: the picture and the sound are copied exactly as the platform serves them, so there is no extra compression and the cut takes about a second. You get the same quality as the full video download; for YouTube that is the 360p file this site saves.
Cutting without re-encoding has one side effect: a video clip must start on a keyframe, the nearest one before the start you chose, so it may begin a few seconds early. Instagram Reels have a keyframe every 5 seconds, so there it can be up to 5 seconds. Audio clips start exactly where you set them.
Save Just the Sound
Download clip audio (M4A) gives you only the sound of the part you picked: a song hook for a ringtone, a quote, a sound effect. It is the video's own AAC audio, copied, not converted, and plays in any music app.
If the platform serves the audio as its own file, the clip is cut from that file; otherwise the sound is taken out of the video itself.
Fair Use and Limits
Only public videos can be trimmed, since SaveReelsFast never signs in to any account. Very long videos may be too large to fetch, and a clip of a video bigger than our size limits is refused rather than cut short.
